Columbus needed

More opera.

More passion.

More Maestro.

OUR MISSION

We seek out, find, and nurture raw and emerging operatic talent as we reinvent the art form to appeal to contemporary audiences. We aim to grow and raise the standards of the Central Ohio arts community by infusing it with our unique brand of opera.

OUR DRIVE

Opera singers are not born, they are made – through hours and weeks and years of practice and performance.  At Opera Project Columbus, we are working hard to create opportunities for emerging artists from Central Ohio (and beyond) to practice their craft, and for local audiences to reap the benefits.

The artistic heart of OPC is Maestro Alessandro Siciliani. Siciliani’s resume speaks for itself – a childhood learning from his father Francesco Siciliani, artistic director of La Scala in Milan; receiving highest honors at the Giuseppe Verdi Milan Conservatory and at Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome; conducting at the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera; and serving as music director of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra from 1992 to 2004.

More importantly, Maestro Siciliani brings an unparalleled knowledge and passion for the operatic repertoire to our project, from the rehearsal room to the podium.  We have heard again and again from our singers and instrumentalists that working with Maestro Siciliani gives them an entirely new understanding and appreciation of the music at hand, which they then carry with them beyond their time at OPC.
