COVID-19 Response

A NOTE TO OUR AUDIENCE AND SUPPORTERS

APRIL 19, 2020

LA VITA È BELLA ~ LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!

The Executive Council of Opera Project Columbus has been closely monitoring the State of Ohio’s and the nation’s responses to the ongoing developments related to COVID-19.  It is with heavy hearts that we announce the postponement of our June performances of Gaetano Donizetti’s, L’elisir d’amore (The Elixir of Love), at the Southern Theatre. Obviously, this is a disappointment for us and for many of you who have expressed your excitement to see and hear this beloved opera. With this in mind, we have scheduled its performance as part of our 2021-2022 season!

This current situation has crippled performing arts organizations, having lost their ability to plan, prepare, and rehearse. As you know, the amount of time needed to prepare and polish our performances is the key to our success and your enjoyment. It is our mission to present you with performances of the highest caliber. As we all are concerned about the health and well-being of the OPC family and community, we realize there are no other options. The decision to postpone a performance is unprecedented in our company’s history and one that we have given serious consideration.

As always, we are immensely grateful for your commitment to Opera Project Columbus.  Our organization relies on the generosity of donors and patrons to continue our mission. Like many performance companies, we need your understanding, support, and generosity during these unprecedented months. Please consider a generous donation at this difficult time. With your help, as we return to normalcy we will be poised to start the celebration with some of the world’s most wonderful music! (http://www.operaprojectcolumbus.com/donating).

We wish you and yours good health, patience, and well-being!
See you at the Opera!
